Pahalgam Terror Attack: Rajnath Singh Meets PM Modi Amid Ongoing Ceasefire Violations by Pakistan
In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday for a detailed security review. The high-level meeting comes amid escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), where Pakistan continues to violate the ceasefire agreement.
The terror strike in Pahalgam, a region known for its tourist appeal and spiritual significance, claimed the lives of multiple security personnel and left several injured. The attack, reportedly orchestrated by cross-border militants, has triggered national outrage and intensified security operations across the region.
High-Level Security Meeting at Prime Minister’s Residence
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s meeting with PM Modi focused on the operational response to the terror incident, border security status, and the continued violations of the 2021 India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement. Sources indicate that the Indian Army has been given a free hand to neutralize any militant threats and respond proportionately to unprovoked Pakistani aggression.
“The Prime Minister was briefed about the situation on the ground. All necessary actions will be taken to ensure the safety and sovereignty of our nation,” a senior government official stated.
Pakistan’s Ceasefire Violations Continue Unabated
While India mourns its fallen soldiers, Pakistan has once again breached the ceasefire, shelling multiple forward posts and civilian areas in Poonch and Rajouri districts. The Indian Army has strongly retaliated, and surveillance across the LoC has been intensified.
According to defence sources, over 15 ceasefire violations have been recorded in the past 48 hours alone, raising concerns over the stability of the region.
Nation Stands United Against Terrorism
Political leaders across party lines have condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, urging a united national front against terrorism. Citizens took to social media demanding stricter action and honoring the bravery of the armed forces.
As security forces continue search and cordon operations in the valley, intelligence inputs suggest heightened infiltration attempts from across the border. The Centre has also asked local authorities to step up security in sensitive zones, especially in view of upcoming tourist and religious events in Kashmir.
