PM Modi Gives ‘Free Hand’ to Armed Forces to Respond to Pahalgam Terror Attack
In a strong response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has granted the Indian armed forces a “free hand” to deal with the perpetrators. The attack, which targeted a security convoy on Monday, resulted in the deaths of at least seven soldiers and left more than a dozen injured.
The Prime Minister held a high-level security meeting late Monday evening with senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, the National Security Advisor, and top military commanders to assess the situation and review counter-terror measures.
According to government sources, PM Modi expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and conveyed his condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers. He reiterated his government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and emphasized that those behind the cowardly act would be brought to justice.
“In light of the grave provocation and loss, the Prime Minister has given a free hand to the security forces to act as they see fit to neutralize the threat,” said a senior official present at the meeting.
The Pahalgam terror attack is believed to have been orchestrated by Pakistan-based terror groups, with initial intelligence reports suggesting the involvement of Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives. The incident has sparked outrage across the country, with political leaders across party lines condemning the act and expressing solidarity with the armed forces.
Army Chief General Manoj Pande visited the injured soldiers today and affirmed the forces’ resolve to deliver a strong and calibrated response. “We will respond at a time and place of our choosing. Those responsible will not be spared,” he stated.
Security has been intensified across Jammu and Kashmir, with special attention to vulnerable zones and ongoing counter-terror operations in south Kashmir. Drone surveillance and additional troop deployment have also been initiated in sensitive areas.
This latest attack comes amid rising tensions in the region and renewed concerns about cross-border infiltration. India has already raised the issue with international partners, calling for global pressure on nations that harbor and support terrorism.
As the nation mourns the loss of its brave soldiers, the government’s firm stance signals a clear message: terror will be met with strength, and India’s security forces have the full backing of the leadership to act decisively.
